CRUSHERS are machines that are used to break stones or mining material using pressure and constant knocking, in order to fragment them into smaller pieces of easy to handle sizes, either for mineral extraction or production of stone aggregates. The pieces are irregular angles, not rounded like river stones, which is ideal to avoid slides in concrete, for example. Neither do they remain with defined or geometric shapes, when tiles or blocks are desired for coatings or walls, it would be required rather of "cuts", and not of crushed. The objective is not to pulverize the material, as would be the case of mills.
The material can pass several times through a crusher, depending on the size you want to obtain, and thus you get the primary, secondary, tertiary crushing, depending on the dimensions sought and the original size of the stone.
There are several types, but all coincide in a container or crushing chamber in which the stones are emptied, where between a fixed platform and a dynamic one, it exerts pressure or provides the energy for the rupture. The stones are brittle, that is, they bear little stress, and it is relatively easy to fracture them by pressure or with shear or tension. Before the pressure, the material tries to expand in those areas that are free of the press, and that is where the stone breaks, because they are not elastic.
These equipment are manufactured to be mounted on fixed or mobile chassis, or in crushing plants with various processes.
